Georgia - a country in the Caucasus. It is situated at the eastern end of the Black Sea, with Turkey and Armenia to the south, Azerbaijan to the east and Russia to the north, over the Caucasus Mountains.
Once Georgia - the country of magnificent landscapes, snowy mountains and a great number of cultural monuments, wonderful and hospitable people was a paradise land in the USSR. Today it's one of the rare and amazing lands for the tourists and holiday-makers from the different parts of the world. Throughout the 20th century Georgia has been famous as a holiday destination.

- Georgian state system counts 3000 years. The first Georgian written source is in Assyrian and Urartu chronicles.
- Georgia is situated on one of the key routes of the Silk Road and now plays a significant geopolitical role, being located at the crossroads of Central Asia, Russia, Europe and the Middle East.
- It occupies only about 70 000 sq. kilometres between the Black and Caspian Seas and there are over than 4 000 oldest cultural monuments.
- The Georgians are an ancient people whose long history has been marked by intensive interactions with other nations and cultures, such as Assyria, Urartu, Greece, Rome, Parthia, Arabia, Byzanthia, Mongolia, Iran, Turkey, Russia and Western European countries. Through more than 30 centuries of such interaction Georgians have managed to preserve their unique language, culture and identity.
- From the 4th century Georgia had been converted to Orthodox Christianity. The Georgian culture is the most interesting and richest mixture of the Eastern and Western cultures.
- There are 14 main written languages in the world and Georgian is one of the oldest living languages and boasts its alphabet. The Georgian writing first appeared in the 5th century.
- Colchi, where Jason and his Argonauts captured the Golden Fleece, is the old name of the Western Georgia.
- Georgia is the oldest birthplace of wine. Archaeological research provide evidence of the viniculture as far back as 7 000 years and it has more original and endemic spices of grapes than any other country - over 500.
- With the recent discovery of the 1.8 million years old Dmanisi hominoid we can say that the first European lived in Georgia.
- No less important is Georgian magnificent sceneries with the Caucasus' highest Mt. Shkhara (5068 m.), Mt. Kazbek (5033 m.) and also very fascinating lowlands. You can find subtropical marshes, semi-deserts, lofty alpine zones and snowy peaks as well.
